How Kakao Gift works
Kakao Gift (카카오 선물하기) is how Korea sends gifts — a gift shop built into KakaoTalk, the messaging app nearly everyone in Korea uses. A few taps sends a coffee voucher, a cake or a boxed present to someone's KakaoTalk, and it's the default way Koreans mark birthdays, say thank you, or return a favor.

A barcode that lands in the recipient's KakaoTalk gift box at once and is scanned in the shop, usually valid for 1 year (367 days). Some branches don't accept it.
배송상품Boxed item
A product the brand ships by courier after the recipient accepts the gift and enters their own delivery address in KakaoTalk, within 8 days.

We send it from our KakaoTalk, and it lands in your recipient's KakaoTalk: a voucher they scan in the shop, or a boxed item the brand ships once they enter their address. The recipient must use KakaoTalk on a Korean mobile number.
How long does a Kakao Gift take to arrive?
Vouchers arrive in the recipient's KakaoTalk as soon as we send them. For boxed items, Kakao says the brand usually hands the parcel to the courier within 2 business days of the recipient entering their address, and it arrives within 3 business days after that.
I don't have a Korean phone number — can I still send a Kakao Gift?
Yes. Send us the gift.kakao.com link and option, your recipient's name and Korean mobile number, and your message. We send it from our KakaoTalk and they accept it in theirs — a voucher to use in the shop, or a boxed item they receive by entering their own address.
What does Order in Korea charge for a Kakao Gift order?
10% of the item price, minimum $5, with a $20 minimum order, shown in full before you pay. Most of that fee covers real costs rather than profit — PayPal takes around 4.4% plus $0.30, and currency conversion adds another 3–4%, so our margin is roughly 2–4%.
Where does the gift actually go?
Into your recipient's KakaoTalk gift box. A voucher stays there until they scan it in the shop; for a boxed item they enter their delivery address and the brand ships it to them. Either way, the recipient needs KakaoTalk on a Korean mobile number.
What's the difference between an e-voucher and a physical Kakao Gift item?
An e-voucher is a barcode scanned in person at a café, bakery or convenience store — nothing is shipped, and some branches don't accept it. A physical item, like a beauty set or character goods, is a real product the brand delivers by courier. We tell you which type an item is before we send it, so there's no confusion about what your recipient receives.
