Makestar already accepts backers from other countries — do I need Order in Korea?
For many projects, no — if you're outside Korea and your card is accepted, you can back it directly. We come in when a specific tier's payment fails for your card, or when the reward ships and you'd rather it arrive at a Korean address in days instead of waiting on a long-distance delivery.
What does Order in Korea charge to back a Makestar project?
10% of the pledge amount in won, minimum $5, with a $20 minimum order — shown before you pay. Most of that fee is real cost: PayPal takes about 4.4% plus $0.30 and currency conversion adds roughly 3–4%, leaving our own margin at about 2–4%.
Where do Makestar rewards get delivered?
To any Korean address you give us — home, officetel, dormitory, hotel, or Airbnb. We register it as the delivery address when we back the project, so when rewards are ready, Makestar's own fulfillment sends them directly there; we don't receive the package ourselves.
What happens if a project I backed doesn't reach its goal?
If Makestar cancels the project and refunds backers, we refund the item portion of what you paid us. Our service fee covers the work of placing the pledge, and we handle the back-and-forth with Makestar if a refund situation comes up.
